TES531 Weeks #9 & #10: The Rest of the CALL Buffet

During the next two weeks, we'll be covering an assortment of items left on the Buffet of CALL tools.

Part#1 Site Building Tools

Take a look at the Site Building Tools Guide and watch the Site Building Screencast.  (Coming soon)

To Do:
  • Create a Padlet and Wordle and post them on your blog.
  • Use one of the photo manipulation tools to create a funny photo and post it on your blog and/or Google+ space.
  • (Optional) Create a Comic Strip panel and post it on your blog.

Part#2 Social Networking

Take a look at the Social Networking Guide

Explore some of the ELT groups and communities on Google+, Facebook, Diigo, LinkedIn, and elsewhere .
Join ones of interest, bookmark them with Diigo, and/or create a blog post about any interesting discoveries.

If you're feeling ambitions, join twitter, finds some people to follow (including Jeff)  and send out your first tweet.

Part#3: Graphic Organizers,  Mindmaps, & Maps

Take a look at the guides for Graphic Organizers and Mind Maps.
Try to create a simple mindmap or graphic organizer and post it on your blog.

Examples:  Lesson 2 Flowchart  Information Transfer Activity   K-12 Templates

Maps
Look at the Mapping Guide.
After experimenting with Google Maps, try to add a placemark to the TES531 Special Places Map.
You can also try embedding that map on your blog and/or creating your own map and posting that.

Attendance Task:  By the end of Week#10, please write a post on your blog describing which of these tools might be useful in your teaching and learning and how you might apply them.

FYI, did you know that YouTube has a closed captioning button that will add subtitles to most recent videos? It's not perfect but might be of help if you can't understand what someone (like Jeff) is saying in a video.
